Employment definition

Employment is any activity that is carried out in order to receive a remuneration called salary. The most common form of a job is the employee, that is, the subject has a dependency relationship through a contract to provide a service and perform certain functions. In developed countries, as well as in developing countries, employment has become the focus of attention because of the emergence of a global crisis in terms of employment.

Job

Studies have shown that globally more than two hundred million people are unemployed, the most affected in this situation are young people and women. These statistics hamper the efforts made by many agencies in their quest to end extreme poverty and boost prosperity.

Throughout history have arisen conflicts between the two parties, employees and employers, for this reason have been emerging organizations whose role is to ensure the interests of employees or workers, one of this and the most common are the unions.

The unions arise as a result of the need to protect workers in the face of the serious situations to which they were exposed during the industrial revolution. At first these activities were punishable by law, with the passing of time these were tolerated without causing penalties. It was until the end of the 19th century that the union right began to be enforced. This happened in England, being the first country to recognize this right.

Web pages specialized in providing job offers are called employment portal. There are free job portals and other private ones, they are recommended options to streamline the search process of these.

Private companies and public institutions publish vacancies in their employment portal, duly distributed by positions and geographical areas. These pages allow their users to register and send their CVs through the network, this allows them to apply for notices published according to their profile of knowledge and attitudes in an unlimited way.

A job application is a document that a person sends to a company in order to apply for a vacancy, according to their job profile.

The employment application form is essentially informative. The person wishing to apply must include all of their personal data requested, including address and contact numbers, personal references, information of interest in relation to previous jobs, skills and abilities. All information provided to the employer is very useful to determine the suitability of the applicant. All the information and documents provided will be part of the database of the department or division of personnel, as the case may be.

Public Jobs

A job is public when the contractor is a government entity or state agency. In general, the main employer of a country is the state, for this reason this type of employment is of great importance for the economy.

Public employment is governed by different rules to those framed in private employment, these are part of Administrative Law. In this type of employment it was totally excluded to organize unions or any kind of collective bargaining, it was until 1981 that a group of countries elaborated an agreement that was introduced in the ILO International Labor Organization, to promote collective bargaining and benefits for workers.

There are governments for whom having many public employees is a problem because of the amount of money that must be paid, for this reason they make cuts in public employment.

The public employee is governed by Public Law since the employer is the State. The employees or public officials are divided into elected officials, politicians, career hierarchies and employees without hierarchical functions.

To be part of the public employees union, in addition to approving the selection evaluations, you must have fundamental qualities such as equality, responsibility and ability to perform the tasks assigned.

Job offer

The job offer is the number of employees or man-hours available to produce according to a given salary level. In the economy, the job offer is defined, at the level of established salaries, by the number of employed workers or workers plus those who do not have a job and are willing to do it for that same salary.

The offer of employment is a progressive function of the salary that is to say, when the greater salary is greater the number of employees or workers willing to carry out the tasks.

Employees develop the amount of work with which they maximize their performance. The offer of employment is heterogeneous in that workers are not equal to each other, they have different preferences and qualifications (set of professional skills). For this reason there are differences in remuneration, depending on the job position and according to the workers.
